Genoa CFC, the oldest club in Italy, has announced the birth of 'We Care Genoa', a medical-scientific committee established within its control bodies. The project was born with the aim of conveying in a permanent and systematic way, under the supervision of Doctor Alessandro Corsini, the club's health manager, and with the coordination of Professor Matteo Bassetti, a team of professionals who are excellence in their respective scientific fields. The committee will be composed of Franco Alessandri, Matteo Bassetti, Pietro Berrino, Marco Di Pierro, Matteo Formica, Germano Gaggioli, Giovanni Mancuso, Giuseppe Moratti, Italo Porto, Luca Ramenghi, Federico Santolini and Carlo Trompetto. The initiative aims to protect the health of athletes, players and their families belonging to all the club's representatives. Together with the reference partner CDS, the committee will work to create a strong interaction between the medical sector, the committee members and the territory, transferring to the population the know-how related to correct lifestyles and prevention and care paths developed for professional athletes. The committee represents a medical-sanitary model that aims for excellence, while remaining deeply rooted in the territory and in the values of solidarity and sharing that belong to the DNA of Genoa. The Administrator of Lega Calcio Serie A, Luigi De Siervo, expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of health protection in football. The 'We Care Genoa' committee will be a point of reference for the club and the community, working to improve the health and well-being of players and their families. The project was launched on May 26, 2026 and will be supported by CDS, the reference partner of Genoa CFC. The committee will work to organize a conference in 2027 promoted by Genoa on the theme of longevity.
